ABC DANCE COMPANY
COMPANY TEAM AUDITIONS
Our company auditions are closed for the 2024-2025 season; However, our 2025-2026 company auditions will be held at the beginning of June 2025. With over 15 years of competition experience, ABC’s company team has accumulated numerous Regional and National Championship titles. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from our award-winning instructors who not only choreograph routines for our dancers, but also teach their classes throughout the year!
Here at ABC, we have several competitive groups which include our Peewees, Juniors, Teens, and Seniors. Our facility focuses on the tight-knit, family-oriented spirit of being part of a TEAM, and we look forward to growing our ABC Family this season! Please find our audition information below!
HOW DOES OUR CLINIC AND AUDITION WORK:
Your child will attend a 1-day clinic in June at our facility. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early, as students will be required to sign in at the Reception Desk in Studio 1 where they will be given an index card with a number. This number will be worn at both the clinic and audition day. Students will be given a Ballet class, a Technique class, and a Contemporary class. They will learn a center exercise in Ballet, across-the-floor exercises in Technique, and a short combination in Contemporary that will be presented to our instructors on the day of their audition.
On audition day, students will once again sign in at the front desk in!
There will be a 20-minute warm-up for each age group, followed by a 20-minute review of their combinations that were taught at clinics. Auditions will be seperated by ages 5-8, 9-13, and 14-18. Students will wait in the reception room prior to their number being called. Once the dancer has finished their audition, they will be free to leave. Our instructors will be looking for style and technique, as well as their work ethic and memorization skills. Please note that prior dance experience is highly recommended when trying out for our competitive team.
An email will be sent 3-5 days after the auditions to inform you if your child has made it into our Company Team for the next season. If your child has been accepted into our Company Team, you will have a meeting with the Director to go over all further details, and your child will be expected to participate in our one-week:
Summer Dance Intensive In August
Summer Intensives is mandatory for all Company Members, no exceptions.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Students must wear a black leotard with pink tights for both Clinics and Auditions, as they will participate in a Ballet class. We will allow shorts for the technique and contemporary class, but they must be tight dance shorts. Please no running shorts or loose shorts of any kind.
Please safety pin their index card to the middle of their leotard so it is visible at all times during their classes and audition.
Please have students bring their ballet shoes and pirouettes in a small dance bag. We will have cubbies for students to put their belongings in.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF AN ABC COMPANY STUDENT:
Requirements: To be part of our Company team takes commitment and dedication. Students are required 5 mandatory classes per week which include 2 Ballet classes, Jazz, Flexibility, and Turns and Jumps. Students must participate in our end of the year Recital which takes place mid-June and all rehearsals that lead up to this performance. As a Company member, it is mandatory to participate in our 1-week Summer Dance Intensives. In a regular competition season, we will attend 1 optional Dance Convention, 3 Regional Dance Competitions and 1 National Dance Competition. Should there be any changes, parents will be informed at our annual Company Meeting that takes place in the beginning of September. Throughout the year we will communicate upcoming events that we feel would be beneficial to the development of our dancers. All workshops and Master Classes hosted by ABC Dance Studio will be mandatory for all company dancers. Please be advised that all outside dance programs must be approved by us prior to participation.
Attendance: Competitive teams only work well together if we ALL attend dance class and rehearsals. Students who have THREE class absences or ONE unexcused rehearsal absence may be removed from company classes and/or dances. Promptness is just as important as attendance, three LATES is considered 1 absence. Students are to arrive 10 minutes prior to class and be ready to dance. It is the responsibility of the student to learn material/choreography missed due to absences. All students who are absent for a rehearsal will be required to take a private class for each rehearsal absence. A 30-minute private class cost is $30.00 per session. All known activities that would require a student to miss one or more classes must be communicated 2 weeks prior to the absence AND approved by the appropriate choreographer(s).
Uniforms: It is mandatory for students to own the Company Leotard, Company Leggings, and Company Jacket. At Competition, students are required to wear their Jacket and Leggings when entering the building as well as on stage for awards. We also have Company shorts and sports bras that are optional for our Company students to purchase. Please see the pricing for uniforms below:
ATTITUDE: Attitude is everything. It is important to maintain a positive, teachable, team-oriented attitude both in and out of classes. We expect our Company Dancers & Parents to exemplify the following qualities at all times: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness and Trustworthiness. Poor attitude from students towards peers and instructors will NOT be tolerated by any means. If a student is called out for poor behavior during class, they will be asked to sit out and leave the classroom. A second time offense will result in a meeting with the parent. If the poor behavior continues and reaches a third offense, your child will be placed on behavioral probation and may be removed from Competition routines.
